Hypnosis to Stop Overthinking at Night
Why Does My Mind Start Racing At Night?
For many people who struggle with anxiety or overthinking, bedtime can be one of the most difficult parts of the day.
During the day, there are distractions. There are things to do, places to go and people to speak to. Your attention is focused elsewhere.
But when you finally get into bed and everything becomes quiet, your mind can suddenly become much louder.
You might find yourself replaying conversations from earlier in the day.
Wondering if you said the wrong thing.
Thinking about everything you need to do tomorrow.
Going over possible problems and trying to prepare for things that haven’t even happened.
And the frustrating thing is that you might know these thoughts aren’t helping, but your mind keeps returning to them anyway.
Why Overthinking Feels Worse At Night
Your mind is designed to think, solve problems and keep you safe.
That ability is incredibly useful. It helps you plan, learn from experiences and prepare for challenges.
The difficulty comes when your mind stays in problem-solving mode even when there is nothing you need to solve.
Instead of preparing you for something useful, it can become stuck analysing the past or worrying about the future.
This can create a cycle:
A thought appears.
The thought feels important.
You start analysing it.
You try to find an answer or certainty.
The more attention you give the thought, the more difficult it becomes to let it go.
Why Trying To Stop Thinking Can Make It Worse
One of the biggest mistakes people make with overthinking is believing the goal is to completely stop thoughts from appearing.
But thoughts are a normal part of being human.
Your mind will always create thoughts.
The goal isn’t to have a completely empty mind.
The goal is to change your relationship with your thoughts.
A thought can simply be a thought.
It doesn’t have to become a problem you need to solve.
It doesn’t need to keep you awake.
It doesn’t need to pull you into hours of analysing and worrying.
How Hypnosis Can Help With Overthinking
Hypnosis works by helping you access the deeper patterns that influence your automatic responses.
Many people with anxiety already understand their thoughts logically. They know worrying doesn’t help. They know they are probably safe.
But knowing something consciously doesn’t always change the automatic response.
Hypnosis can help your mind learn a different way of responding.
Instead of fighting thoughts, you can learn to allow them to come and go.
Instead of feeling like your mind is something you have to battle, you can begin creating a calmer relationship with it.
Hypnosis To Stop Overthinking At Night
I created this hypnosis session to help you quiet the mental noise, release tension and allow your mind and body to move into a calmer state before sleep.
Find somewhere comfortable, put on your headphones, close your eyes, and allow yourself to relax.
